SYNOPSIS
Brice, un jeune citadin investit toutes ses économies pour s'installer avec sa compagne Lara dans un petit village des Ardennes où il a passé son enfance. Peu de temps après leur arrivée, ils apprennent qu'un énorme centre de vacances hollandais va se construire au bout de leur jardin! Brice tente d'organiser la résistance... en vain. Les villageois sont résignés. Un soir, il aperçoit son cousin Jacques, fermier taciturne et un peu simplet, en extase dans la forêt, comme ébloui par une apparition qu'il serait seul à voir... Brice tente le tout pour le tout. Il essaie de faire accréditer par les autorités religieuses locales et vaticanes les apparitions présumées de la Vierge Marie, espérant qu'elles empêcheront la construction du centre de vacances. Mais Jacques voit-il la Vierge ?

Née le 28 août 1977 à Bruxelles, Christelle Cornil a étudié au Conservatoire de Mons et a suivi une formation de comédienne au Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles. Depuis 2000, on a pu la voir très régulièrement au cinéma.

Né le 16 février 1975 au Guatemala, Nicolas Buysse étudie au Conservatoire Royal de Liège. Son parcours artistique débute au sein de la compagnie Victor B à Namur. Il sillonne ensuite les scènes belges et françaises. On le retrouve régulièrement sur les planches du Théâtre Royal du Parc, du Théâtre des Galeries et de la Toison d’or à Bruxelles. Il est également membre de la ligue d’impro depuis 2007.

FRANÇOIS MANIQUET
Né à Namur, le 3 décembre 1965, François mène une double carrière. Il est un économiste belge de renommée mondiale, professeur à l’Université catholique de Louvain, lauréat en 2010 du renommé prix Francqui pour ses travaux sur l’Economie Juste.
Entre deux congrès, il mène aussi une activité de comédien amateur, sur les planches ou au cinéma. Il a tourné dans les quatre courts métrages de Xavier Diskeuve : La chanson-chanson, Mon cousin Jacques, Révolution et I Cannes get no incarnant trois fois le personnage du cousin Jacques.

A PROPOS DU REALISATEUR XAVIER DISKEUVE
Au départ journaliste en région de Namur et auteur de nouvelles, Xavier Diskeuve se lance dans le court métrage en 2002 avec La chanson-chanson. C’est un road-movie décalé et un musical entre Namur et Paris.
La chanson-chanson est d’emblée nommé Meilleur Court Métrage Européen. Le film fait le tour du monde des festivals (de Melbourne à Rotterdam, d’Uppsala à Clermont-Ferrand)
En 2004 il récidive avec Mon cousin Jacques, qui reçoit d’emblée trois prix au Festival du Court Métrage de Bruxelles, accumule ensuite les prix du Public en France et a été diffusé des dizaines de fois en télé (RTB F, TV5monde et France 2).
Avec Révolution (2006) court métrage muet qu’on pourrait sous titrer « la vie sexuelle de Monsieur Hulot », il remporte une trophée de premier plan, le 1er prix de la compétition mondiale du Festival des Films du Monde de Montréal en 2006 ce qui lui vaut une présélection aux Oscars! Le film accumulera sélections d’importance comme Brest, Clermont-Ferrand, Interfilms Berlin, Venise,... et les diffusions télé (Canal+, France 3, Be Tv, RTB F, Cinéma,...)
Il signe encore un court cheap et loufoque I Cannes get no en 2009, qui renvoie les personnages de Walter et Jacques se perdre au Festival de Cannes et qui arpente La Croisette par sa face la moins glamour (diffusions sur RTB F et TV5 monde)
Fin 2009, la vierge lui apparaît et l’enjoint à passer au long-métrage. Cela déclenche les visions et écriture du script de Jacques a vu. Xavier est toujours journaliste à l’Avenir et depuis 2008 auteur pour Votez pour moi, rendez-vous satirique sur Bel RTL .

INTERVIEW "10° VANCOUVER INTERNATIONAL WOMEN IN FILM & TV FESTIVAL"

VIWIFF: Taxistop is a comedy about a man who gets into a predicament that forces him to test his theories of cooperation. How did you come up with the character of Antoine and what is his theory based on?
Marie Enthoven: Since a few decades, values like introspection, communication and compromise are very much in fashion. Despite the fact that I’m convinced by these values on the longer term, it amused me to explore their limits with the character of Antoine that incarnates this to the extreme. What should happen when someone like Antoine is confronted to his opposite, Patsy (Catherine Salée)? Patsy only knows one way to go around with her desires and that is how to impose them. Patsy has no idea of living in community. Should we therefore exclude her from the community or should we impose her to live with compromises? That’s the whole paradox.
V: Can you tell where, when and how long Taxistop was filmed?
ME: We filmed in 7 days in July 2013, mostly in the south of Brussels, Brabant Wallonia. For the last scene we went further to the south of Belgium and we shut down a piece of a highway to be able to shoot safely. That was fun. We had our tables and chairs put in the middle of the highway for our lunch break.
V: Many film scenes take place with an ensemble of 5 actors pressed into a tiny car. How did you go about, technically and logistically, to shoot those scenes?
ME: It was not easy for me to be able to concentrate on the performance of the five at the same time. We did rehearsal before the shooting and I took some time with each actor alone. On the film set we had a travelling car, that’s a car on which you put your acting car on, and the crew can stand around while we drive. That’s very practical. But still very windy…
V: If I am well informed, you have a parallel life as a yoga teacher and filmmaker, shooting two shorts in the last two years. How do these two worlds influence each other?
ME: Actually, I stopped teaching yoga when I was pregnant of my second daughter because I decided to jump and try doing what I always really dreamed of but didn’t dare. My pregnancy gave me that courage. I directed my first film Naive eight months pregnant. That was fun.
V: The Vancouver Women in Film Festival celebrates the creative achievements of women working behind the camera, ultimately aiming to increase the percentage of films made by women. Belgium has a good share of female filmmakers with Patrice Toye (Little Black Spiders), Fien Troch (Kid) and Vanja D’Alcantara (Beyond the Steppes) as some of the names on the festival circuit. What is, from your point of view, the situation for women wanting to direct films in Belgium?
ME: I see indeed a lot of very talented woman making great films in Belgium. All the opportunities are there for women, there are no difficulties, at least no more difficulties because we are women.
V: You are Flemish but chose to shoot your films mainly in French language. Why so?
ME: I don’t really know. I came to Brussels to study philosophy in French, I met my French-speaking husband, and most people in Brussels speak French, so… My reality is very mixed. I speak Flemish with my children when my husband is not there, they go to Flemish school in Brussels and I have friends from both languages.
